Beginning Tuesday, April 21, our Crime Story Daily section is expanding from one to two editions each day — an AM edition and a PM edition. We have decided that this is an appropriate time for such an expansion in order to keep our readers apprised of the impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency on the criminal justice and the prison communities around the country.
At Crime Story, we have already shifted our coverage in recent weeks by publishing stories about the Los Angeles criminal courts’ responses to the crisis, and by engaging Amanda Knox and Christopher Robinson to publish a series of pieces under the theme: Incarceration and Exoneration in a Time of Pandemic.
Hannah Teich will expand her responsibilities as Crime Story Daily editor in curating the expanded Crime Story Daily coverage. Teich selects stories for each edition from national and local publications and groups the aggregation into four general topic areas: criminal justice policy reporting; muckraking/watchdog reporting; complex crime storytelling; and stories that examine the impact of criminal justice and true-crime in the culture.
